How Does Inno Tire Hold 2-Bike Rack Secure in Hitch

Question:

I just ordered the Inno Tire Hold 2 Bike Platform Rack - INH120 and have a question about the hitch pin locking system? So once weve inserted the rack into the hitch, and weve aligned it to the hitch pin hole, and based on the video, theres a locking piece that is attached to the rack by a piece of wire, see attached photos that has two tabs on it, and we insert it throw the hitch pin hole by aligning the tabs with the two openings, and then we rotate it so its facing either down or up, and then according to the video, we just turn the tension knob on the other end, to tighten the rack to keep it from wobbling. But what is keeping the rack from being pulled out from the hitch? Im use to having a locking hitch pin that goes all the way through the hitch pin hole, and has a clip or a keyed lock on the other end of it to keep it in place and secure. So Im confused how this racks hitch locking system works? I noticed with the Inno 4 bike rack, the guys demonstrates a locking system that threads through the hitch pin hole, and then uses a clip on the other end to secure it in place. So does the Inno 2 bike rack have the same hitch locking system? I just need clarification as to how this rack is secured to the hitch, to prevent it from falling or being pulled out from the hitch?

Thanks so much for your purchase of the Inno Tire Hold 2 Bike Platform Rack # INH120. And that is a good question about how the rack is secured to your hitch, as it doesn't have a traditional hitch pin that goes all the way through, so I'll do my best to explain.

The Tire Hold # INH120 is locked into the hitch and won't fall or be pulled off due to the tensioning hand knob at the front. After you tighten it in the hitch, which expands the shank, you lock the knob, and what this does is prevent the knob from being utilized. You should tighten it enough so the rack won't move at all, and the hand knob being locked into place secures it in that position. This means the hitch can't be removed and won't fall out because of how tight the shank is inside the hitch.

The safety pin is a part of it as well, though is more of just a failsafe, so when it is also inserted inside the hitch, should the rack for some reason become loose, the pin will ensure the rack doesn't go anywhere. So really, it's a combination of the two, but it is the expanding shank and knob that is the main security of the Tire Hold # INH120.
