Question:
I have a 2019 Land Cruiser with factory cross bars and was thinking about placing a platform to support an awning, hold 4 traction boards and a 4 gallon rotopax fuel container. Can the lock n load or rhino rack platforms mount on the factory cross barswould prefer using the crossbars over the rails because I would like the lower profile. I am open to a set up that avoids the platform altogether, if you have experience using attachments to the factory rail or crossbar alone. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks as always.

I have a solution for you for either way you'd like to mount your awning, so you're in luck!
You can mount a Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack for Crossbars - Aluminum - 84" Long x 54" Wide # Y05048-39 directly to the crossbars and it would allow you to mount an awning like the Rhino-Rack Batwing Compact Awning - Roof Rack Mount - Bolt On - Passenger's Side - 69 Sq Ft # RR33400. The LockNLoad will give you enough room to carry the awning and also carry your Rota-Pax jug and traction boards, so I do recommend this as the best solution to give you the most carrying space.
If you wanted a small awning that will mount directly to the factory crossbars on your 2019 Toyota Landcruiser then you can use the Yakima SlimShady Awning - Roof Rack Mount - Clamp On - 64 Sq Ft # Y96VR. The SlimShady uses adjustable clamps to mount onto the crossbars and provides 64 sq/ft of shade for the side of your vehicle.
I've linked some review and installation videos of these awnings for you to check out.
