Question:

I have a 2021 f150 powerboost with 5 1/2 foot bed. Im looking to add a bed cover that doesnt prevent a rack system being added to it afterwards. The rack will not sit on the truck 24/7. I want to be able to cover the bed and belongings to stay safe and dry while the rack will be used for off grid camping. I will be adding a tent system to the top of the bed rack. How much weight can the Yakima rack carry while in transit from place to place and what is the weight limits with an overland tent and 3 to 4 adults including gear for each adult sitting on the top?

The Yakima Overhaul HD part # Y01155 fits tonneau covers with channels built into them for ladder racks like you are wanting to go with and has a dynamic (on the road) weight capacity of 500 lbs. What that means is that when used as a traditional ladder rack it would have a capacity of 500 lbs. The static capacity (when not moving) isn't listed but it would far exceed what you'd need for a tent like you mentioned.

For a tonneau cover that fits your 2021 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed and has the tracks on top of it that this ladder rack would need you'd want the part # RTX62GR which is a retractable cover that would keep your truck bed protected and dry.
