Question:
I have a 99 gmc Sierra classic,is there a adapter harness to plug in the Curt Venturer brake controller

Expert Reply:
It will depend on which truck you have. 1999 was a split model year for GMC pickups. They offered both the C/K series which was a carryover from the 1998 model or the Sierra which was an all-new body style.
If you have the C/K series, the vehicle isn't prewired for a brake controller. You'll need to begin with a functional 4 pole trailer connector. You can install # 118315 if you don't already have one. Then, to install a 7-way trailer connector and install the brake controller, you'll need the # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. You'll also need the # C51515 Curt pigtail.
If you have a Sierra, the truck is prewired for a brake controller. Besides the # C74VV Ventrurer controller, you'll also need the # C51342 wiring harness. One end of the harness plugs into the controller, the other end plugs into the connector under the dash. The connector is located in the black junction box behind the e-brake pedal on the firewall. The connector plugs into the second slot from the left in the top row, as shown in the provided photo.
