Roadmaster D-Ring Mount Adapter Compatibility With 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK And etrailer Tow Bar

Published 08/18/2021

Question:

I am trying to get equipped to flat tow my off road 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK. I have an after market bumper with shackle rings that I would like to use instead of the base plate. Would this adapter work with the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates?

Before towing your 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK using the D-Ring Mounts on your aftermarket bumper you'll need to contact the manufacturer and confirm that the bumper is rated to tow with. If so then you can use the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Motor Home Mount Tow Bars - 1" Thick # RM-035-1 or # RM-035 for 3/4" mounts.

These adapter are only compatible with motorhome mounted Roadmaster tow bars. If you don't already have one I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs
Item # RM-522. This tow bar has a non-binding design which allows you to release your vehicle at any time, anywhere on even or unlevel ground and large hookup radius makes connecting a breeze at any angle, even if your vehicle isn't perfectly lined up with your RV.

To flat tow your 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK you'll also need a tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for you below:

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord
Item # RM-152-98146-7. This kit will splice into your vehicle's wiring to signal using your tail lights instead of having to run magnetic lights to the rear of your vehicle every time you need to tow.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524. This braking system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from your RV using the remote. This system also includes a battery charge line kit to keep your vehicle's battery charged while towing.

Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs Item # RM-643. The coiled design will help prevent the cables from dragging on the gorund and being damaged.

The battery will need to be disconnected so to make it as easy as flipping a switch you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766.

You may also need a high/low adapter but will need to take some measurements to find the correct size for your needs. I've attached our help article to assist you in finding the correct adapter.
