Are Furrion RV Air Conditioner Units Compatible With The In-Command System

Updated 05/27/2025 | Published 08/12/2021

Question:

Will the Furrion 15,500 replace a Colman Mach Air that is ducted and is controlled by the In-Command control system on a 2021 Keystone Cougar 30RKD? The In-Command is setup for two ac units, controlled separately from the In-Command screen and has two remote wall mounted temperature sensors.

The Furrion Chill Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup - 15,000 Btu # FR42PV will replace your Coleman rooftop unit and allow you to retain use of your In-Command system by using the same hookups as your Coleman unit. If you want to replace the distribution box as well then you would have to use the Furrion wall thermostat as well since Furrion is not compatible with the In-Command system.

If you are replacing everything then you can use the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Mutli Zone - 15,000 Btu - LED - White # FR67FJ. AC system lets you independently adjust the temperature of two zones within your RV or camper. Compatible with ducted and ductless systems. Includes 2 ACs, 2 air distribution boxes, 2 multi zone controllers, and a multi zone wall thermostat.

I have a 2022 Cougar RKD similar to the one in the original post and I need to replace the main Coleman Mach AC unit which has just failed. I too have the In-Command system and a Coleman in the bedroom. I would like to replace just the failed unit for now. It sounds like you are saying that if I purchase the Furrion AC with the Coleman kit and use the existing Coleman ADP that I can use In-Command and the complete existing set up. However, if I go with the Furrion ADP then I need to use the Furrion Thermostat, is that correct? Also, the link you mentioned it uses the existing wall mounted thermistor? Since I am in Texas, I was thinking about moving up to an 18K BTU Chill Cube system, is that recommended? Also, since I am just replacing one of the AC units are there any issues with In-Command controlling a Furrion in the main area and a Coleman Mach in the front?

@Steve At one point we felt a lot more confident about the Coleman adapters for the Furrion AC units but we've found out that they aren't as reliable as we'd like and there's no real way of knowing when they will work great and when they won't. With that said we can't guarantee this would work and integrate into the In-Command setup. The Chill Cube will do the best job in the Texas heat but again it won't integrate with the In Command system. Let me know if thats an issue or not.

@JamesonC Thank you for the quick reply. I guess if the adaptor doesn't work then I would just go with the furrion thermostat or is there a better combo?

@Steve The Chill Cube is really nice but it can only work with the Chill Cube specific thermostat. It can have furnaces ran to it but that's the extent of how flexible it can be. It's really only combo that works together.
