Replacement Leaf Spring for 2006 2955RL Montana 5th Wheel

Updated 08/03/2021 | Published 07/31/2021

Question:

Hello, I have a 2006 2955rl montana 5th wheel. I look up the dexter part number on my axle and Dexter site said 26 in eye to eye leafs for 35 center axle to axle. I ordered 26 inch from etrailer last week and the ones I just pulled off are 25 1/2 eye to eye. They are a little flat. Can I install the 26 in on and be ok. Maybe previous owned install the wrong ones?

Typically when you replace the leaf springs it is best to match what is already on your trailer. In this case, it sounds like you had 25-1/8" long springs like # e54SR for 3,500 lbs axles based on your measurement of 25-1/2" and the description that they were a little flat.

Since this is a secondhand trailer, it is possible the previous owner should have installed 26" leaf springs and did not but that is impossible to determine. If you should have 26" springs like the # e94SR according to Dexter, then that is what I would follow. Keep in mind these are for a 6,000 lbs. axle.
