Which 2-5/16 Hitch Ball Is Better Of The Curt 40008 and 40009?

Question:

Looking at a curt 40008 ball and the 40009 ball. One says forged steel the other is carbon steel which is better. Towing a 30’ camper. Thanks

We only carry the Curt 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40008 as it is the better choice with the hot-forged steel. This will work great for your 30' camper as it is rated for 20,000lbs.

The Curt 40009 uses high carbon steel that gets heat treated to make it harder. If this process is not done exactly you risk strength issues.

Both balls are chrome plated for corrosion protection.
