I spoke with someone at Porta-Bote and they said you can carry your boat directly on the crossbars of your vehicle's roof rack. My suggestion would be to carry it like a kayak on a carrier. The carrier will have padding that can protect your boat during transport. The Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Rear Loading - Clamp On - 150 lbs part # Y04091, will allow you to load your boat from the rear of the vehicle. The saddles will attach to your factory roof rack and you will strap your boat to the saddles with the two cam straps. This carrier also comes with a bow and stern tie-down. Your Porta-Bote has a grommet in the front of the boat where you can tie down the boat.
