Question:
I have a Falcon 5250 tow setup from my old RV and I have a different RV and Toad now. Will the 1550-1 fit my 2006 Honda Pilot EX and the 5250 tow bar? What braking system would you recommend for this set-up...2012 Allegro Open Road 32CA with 2006 Pilot?

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # 1550-1 is compatible with the 2006 Honda Pilot models with no brush guard. It is also compatible with the Flacon 5250 tow bar but the curb weight of the 2006 Honda Pilot is 4,200-4,500lbs so you'll need to make sure that you don't exceed the 5,000lbs weight capacity of the tow bar. You'll also need safety cables in the event of a breakaway, I recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs # RM-643.
For a braking system I recommend the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional
Item # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from your RV with the remote.
A wiring kit will also be needed to relay your braking and turn signals. I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. This wiring kit is a one time setup that splices into the wiring of your vehicle to signal instead of having to run magnetic lights to the rear of your vehicle every time you need to tow.
As stated before Honda altered their transmissions in 2006 and does not approve the 2006 Pilot models for flat towing so you will assume all liability if the transmission is damaged while flat towing.
