As the Curt # C16400 brackets are for a 2007 or newer Silverado, I suggest going with the Curt # C16418. These are specifically designed to fit your 2005 Silverado 1500 LD with 6 1/2 foot bed. If you do not have Curt brand rails, I also suggest going with the # C16204. Rails and brackets cannot be mixed and matched between brands and these would mate with the # C16418 perfectly.
