Can a Weight Distribution System Be Used With a 2021 BMW X5

Question:

Hello, Is it recommended to have a weight distribution hitch for this vehicle? The trailer we are considering is about 3,900 lbs dry weight. I cannot seem to find anything in the owners manual regarding the need for a WDH. The vehicle was ordered with the factory hitch and wiring harness.

The owner's manual for a 2021 BMW X5 does not clarify whether or not a weight distributing hitch can be used. That said, due to the design of the aftermarket hitches I do not recommend this as they are not rated for it. If the manufacturer states otherwise then that is fine but based on what I have to go off of I do not recommend using a weight distribution system with this vehicle.

If the trailer has brakes then you will need a brake controller to complete your setup, I recommend the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller part # C51180 because there is no drilling into the dash and it's plug-in-play.
