Question:
We removed the original bumper block but to install the bags we have to lift the truck and it compresses the bags to 3-1/2 inches, this seems to compressed but what are your thoughts? What should the gap between axel and bracket be for the AL88295?

Expert Reply:
The # AL88295 Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs can be compressed down to 2-5/16" and extends to 9-1/8" according to the manufacturer. The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI and the maximum recommended pressure is 100 PSI.
At 3-1/2" you are not exceeding the maximum compression of the springs. Unless you are already at the maximum PSI of 100, adding air pressure will extend the springs increasing the length.
Regardless of the load, the air pressure should be adjusted so that the normal ride height of your vehicle is maintained at all times. After speaking with Air Lift, the correct ride height for your vehicle with these installed is 5-7" bracket to bracket. You will need to adjust the PSI accordingly depending on the load you are carrying.
I have attached a review video for your reference.
