Our steps dont always go in or out. Sometimes does not go out at all or go in. If stuck out, tap on motor and they go in but only about 1/2 way. The moon gear is in good shape. Im thinking motor. Its been making weird noises lately. Is there a rebuild kit for it. It looks like a simple window motor.

It does sound like your step motor is in need of replacement on your 2006 Holiday Rambler Neptune.
