Easy Way to Monitor Transmission Fluid Temperature of 2020 Subaru Outback When Towing
Updated 07/13/2021 | Published 07/12/2021 >
Question:
Want to add a transmission cooler to try and keep transmission temps at or below 175F while towing an 1100+/- pound pop up trailer with electric brakes. I see a few options using a OBD dongle + free apps on the Subaru forums but am wondering if your team has any recommendations, Thanks!

Your transmission fluid temperature is information that the vehicle computer already has so the easiest solution would be a monitor like the Edge Insight CS2 part # EP84030 which plugs into the OBDII port and will display it easily. I wouldn't recommend going the route of an analog gauge as that's just going to be a lot of work and trouble when the info is already collected and just needs to be accessed with a monitor.
