Question:
2021 ram 1500 not classic fifth wheel hitch help. I need a hitch for a fifth wheel dry weight 9000. I want an auto slider and I need bed rails, what do you recommend. Was looking at the demco’s with the under bed mount but I don’t think they make it for my truck. 2021 ram 1500 5.7 hemi 5’7” bed no air suspension or ram box.

For your new generation 2021 Ram 1500, not the Classic model, with a 5-1/2' bed in a slider hitch, there is limited options. I suggest the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # DM8550040 and the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails # DM8552032-71. This hitch slides automatically as you drive to give you 22-1/2" of additional clearance for tight turns. The head slides toward the tailgate when you turn and back toward the cab when you straighten out. The rotation creates the force that propels the automatic slider, built-in brackets stabilize your pin box so the king pin won't rotate in the hitch; no need for a separate capture plate for standard, non-cushioned pin boxes. This is designed for use on 5-1/2' and 6' truck beds and fits standard pin boxes that are 12" - 14" wide. This has a gross towing weight of13,000 lbs. and a vertical load limit of 3,250 lbs.
Since you specifically stated an auto slide, I take it your 5th wheel does not have a rotating pin box. However, if you want to go that route, changing the pin box, you have an option in the Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # DM8550043 and still use the same Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails # DM8552032-71. A big advantage to this route is if you often use your truck bed for hauling and need a hitch that's extra-easy to move in and out. It is a much more cost effective hitch but would require the change of pin box too. If you go this route, then you will need the wedge kit # SWW-05 as well. The Demco Autoslide, # DM8550040 will be the better set-up but point this out in case the need to move hitch extra easy is needed.
