Options For Carrying 2 Kayaks On Toyota Sienna Or Honda Odyssey

Question:

Will 2 Thule Hullavators work on a 2021 Toyota Sienna or a Honda Oddessy? Would like to mount 2 kayaks on a minivan or SUV. This is a consideration as we are shopping for a new vehicle. Please advise us on this option. Thank you.

It is possible, however, Thule does not recommend installing two Thule Hullavators # TH898 on a roof rack. This is because the Hullavator requires a minimum of 28-1/2" each so you would need crossbars that are at least 57" long. The crossbars also need to overhang past the towers at least 4" on each side. Aside from the crossbar length that is required, you also need a large weight capacity since each Hullavator weighs about 40lbs, then you have the weight of each kayak as well.

The best route is to install one Thule Hullavator along with another kayak carrier such as Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S510. This Rhino-Rack carrier doesn't take up much space and only weighs 12lbs. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you.

I also recommend checking out the owner's manual for each vehicle that you are considering buying. Look at the roof weight capacity as this will be your limiting factor when installing roof accessories.
