Question:

How good a fit is this carrier for a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport with stock spare? I am about to install a 2inch standard receiver hitch but wanted to be sure it would clear the spare tire and still be rigid with little play. Basically used to transport two mountain bikes on paved roads/highways mostly. I wanted to avoid a spare tire mounted carrier altogether, so this seemed to be a pretty good choice. What are your recommendations? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You do not mention which hitch you are installing. With a stock spare tire, we found that the distance from the hitch pin hole of the Draw-Tite Class III receiver # DT78MR to the furthest rearward point of the spare tire measured about 5-1/2 inches with a stock spare tire. This means that the bike rack you choose must have a hitch pin hole in the shank to closest upright portion of the rack distance greater than 5-1/2 inches.

The Swagman Titan 2 bike model you referred to, part # S63400 has a shank that measures 11-1/4 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest portion of the rack. If the spare tire clearance measurement you took on the Jeep is less than 11-1/4 inches, the Titan will clear you tire and would work great for you.

The Titan includes an anti-rattle hitch pin that will hold the rack tightly in the hitch, but a locking version, part # S64029 is available separately.

I also wanted to mention that Swagman specifically mentions in their instructions that the rack is designed for use on paved or smooth gravel roads. If you drive off-road with the rack attached, I recommend proceeding with caution.
