Can You Drive with a Roll Top Tonneau Cover Partly Open?

Question:

So Im wondering if you can drive with a roll top partly open? I go to the track and need to carry VP gas cans that rise up above the bed of the truck. I realize there is no security or weather protection but it would just be an occasional need. I realize I could go with a canister tonneau to achieve this but I also need to carry some full bed items and so I cant give up the canister space. thanks!

I went ahead and reached out to one of my contacts at TruXedo, and they said that they would recommend against traveling with any soft roll-up tonneau cover partly open. The reason why is because the opening can allow extra error to enter the truck bed and shift the cover while in motion. This can cause additional damage to the tonneau cover and/or rails.
