Aftermarket Roof Rack Options For 2011 Chevy Avalanche

Published 05/27/2021

Question:

Hi I was wanting to purchase a Yakima roof rack for my 2011 Chevy avalanche. I’ve seen options on your website to buy the racks that mount to the existing stock rack. But I would like to take the stock rack completely off and use the mounting holes that are built into the roof for a new Yakima system. Do you guys have that option? Also I was wanting the black 60” jet stream bars. Thank you for any help you can provide.

There are roof racks that can be installed onto your naked roof via door jams / gutters, however, if you wanted a system to bolt into the roof you would need to go with a system like Yakima # Y57CV. This includes 54" tracks that need to be drilled into your roof and then attach the legs and 60" aero crossbars. This would work but I don't recommend it as it requires drilling new holes into the roof and is much more involving than other roof racks for your vehicle.

If you removed the factory roof rack/rails completely then you could install the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars Black - 54" # RRVA137B-2 along with Legs # RRRLKVA and Fit Kit # DK227 which attach to your door jams. I recommend going this route due to low cost and ease of installation when compared to the track-mount setup mentioned previously.

It sounds like you are not too fond of the factory raised rails, but if you wanted to go the easiest and most affordable route then I would just install the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars 58" # MPG216 onto your raised roof rails. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you to check out.
