Question:
Have 2020 Grand Cherokee and was interested in buying the hitch w towing kit. Somewhere I read that Grand Cherokees post 2018 do not have a pre wired connection for the trailer lights and brakes. Is this true? Do I need to buy and install something more than the SH64FRT to be able to activate the brake lights and brakes?

Expert Reply:
The 7-way connector included with the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2" # SH64FRT is designed to connect to the factory connector on your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee located underneath the rear bumper as shown in the included picture. Some Jeeps had them, and some did not so you will need to check to confirm if you have one or not.
If you have the connector the kit will plug right in, but you will need to take your Jeep to your local Jeep dealer to have the connector activated. To activate the trailer brakes you will need to install a trailer brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is an extremely reliable controller with great features like an easy to read LCD screen and built in diagnostics that are easy to read and understand. You will also need plug in adapter # TK93VR.
If your Jeep does not have the shown connector you will need a few components. First is the Tekonsha Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118727 then install the # ETBC7. For this option you can still use the # 90195 but you will need to hardwire it as shown in the included video.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
