Is It Normal For No Lights To Appear On Draw-Tite Activator IV 5504 When No Trailer Is Connected?
Updated 05/19/2021 | Published 05/17/2021 >
Question:
2021 Ford E450 cutaway Unless a trailer is hooked up to the tow vehicle I will see no lights at all on the Draw-tite 5504 brake controller, is this correct? Or, am I supposed to see a red dot when no trailer is hooked up? I installed the controller with no trailer and have nothing lit up. It does have power to the controller. Thank you!

Expert Reply:
When there is not trailer connected to your 2021 Ford E-450 Cutaway there should be no lights on the Draw-Tite Activator IV 5504 lit up, so your controller is performing correctly.
As soon as it detects a trailer is connected you will get the red decimal.
I included a video of the 5504 for you to take a look at.
