Question:
My Ford dealer recommended a third-party to install a hitch so I contracted with them. I was surprised how visible the hitch was when I picked the Flex up. On the way home, I could hear gravel clunking against it. I remembered my research on your site for a roof rack so I came to you for the answers. Will the Draw-Tite model # 75679 give me an inch more clearance? Do you think that will help in a meaningful way? Is the #13551 more universal- could it be used on a different vehicle?

Thanks for the picture!
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75679 you were looking at will measure 12-3/4" from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver when installed on your 2009 Ford Flex, so it will give you a little more ground clearance as your current hitch measures 12" based on the picture you provided.
The # 13551 you mentioned is only confirmed to fit the 2009-2019 Ford Flex without dual exhaust, so it is not universal.
I included a video of the # 75679 being installed on a 2009 Ford Flex for you to take a look at.
