Question:

Im setting up my wrangler to be flat towed and am seeing a lot of options with regards to the wiring requirements. Ill be installing a Blue Ox towbar, base plate and supplemental braking system. What will I need for the electrical wiring to ensure that my tail lights on the vehicle work properly and that the battery on the wrangler remains fully charged? I keep seeing info regarding the possible need for an extra brake light switch to keep the jeeps brake lights from overriding the RVs turn signals?

The tow bar wiring for your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will require Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Item # RM-15267.

If the brake lights were to override the turn signals you would use a relay however, I have found in most cases on the new Jeeps, they will fall asleep after about 15 minutes, Since you cannot tap into the factory brake wires on the Jeep, depending on the braking system you are using, it will require the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Item # RM-751490. This is for the indicator light that comes with the braking system. If using a portable braking system it will not be required.

If you would like to maintain charge on your battery while you are towing I recommend the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles Item # RM-156-25. This kit will allow the alternator on the RV to trickle charge your Jeep battery while it is being flat towed.
