Does The Ratchet Strap Need To Be Used When Loading One Bike On Hollywood Racks Desitnation?

Question:

Is the ratchet strap required when using a single bike? or is it only for securing two bikes at once? My primary use would be one bike at a time, and having to deal with a ratchet strap each time would get annoying. Thanks!

The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HLY94FR comes with the red strap for added security. It is basically an extra means of security when trying to keep the bikes tight to the carrier and reduce any movement. It technically does not need to be used, but I do recommend using it especially when you have 2 bikes loaded. I attached a short demonstration video which shows the strap being used, but you can see our demonstration person mentions that it does not need to be used.
