Everything works fine on my MaxxFan powered vent except that the gear box is broken. Can I buy just the gear box?

You sure can.
The vent assembly should have a sticker affixed to it listing the part number, but since it's a powered vent, the replacement operator mechanism is most likely part # MA10-20281K-1AF which is a replacement for MaxxAir 4500K through 4900K inclusive and 4700N through 4900N models inclusive.
If you have a different vent brand or model, let me know and I'd be happy to look into the availability of a replacement lift operator mechanism for you.
