Question:

We have a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter Van with a Roambuilt rack on top. We want to install 2 Thule Hullavator kayak lifts to help us get our kayaks on top. The Roambuilt roof rack has 1.5” round rails around the outside. The sides are 60” apart. We think we want: Thule Rapid CrossRoads 450R Thule Probar EVA 175 69” Load Bars Thule Hullavator Pro x 2 Would you recommend a different setup?

Since the roof rack on your 2018 Mercedes Sprinter Van has side rails that are 1.5" in diameter, you can use the Thule ProBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - 79" Long # TH713700 along with Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401. These crossbars measure 79" long which is enough to give you the necessary 4" of overhang on each side.

Keep in mind that the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 weighs about 40lbs alone, so with both empty Hullavators you are already adding 80lbs to the roof. With the kayaks installed, make sure you are not exceeding the 165lb weight capacity of the Thule roof rack; also make sure to never exceed the weight capacity of your roof.
