Can Hollywood Racks Destination be Used on Camping Trailer

Updated 04/05/2021 | Published 04/02/2021

Question:

Part Number HLY94FR on the back of a camping trailer. Will the handlebars of the inboard bike clear the flat, 10 foot high back wall of an RV/trailer that has a receiver on it? It looks like this rack leans forward a bit.

So, I'm not quite sure what you are referring to in regards to clearing a a flat, 10 foot high back wall (maybe you meant inches?) but the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR does have a 9 inch shank rise, which should alleviate any concerns about clearances. Having said that, this bike rack is not rated for use behind a trailer due to the substantial bounce/movement that occurs at the rear of a trailer so it can get damaged and isn't covered under warranty for that use.

There are a couple of other options I recommend checking out though that can be used with a travel trailer.

- Swagman Dispatch 2-Bike Rack # S44FR

- Lets Go Aero Jack-It Pro Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers - 22-1/2" Jack Clearance # LGA55VR

The Dispatch is rated for use behind a trailer and has a 6-1/4" shank rise so clearances won't be an issue; it also comes with locks for the rack and your bikes to keep them protected. The Jack-It is a non-traditional option but a really good way to carry bikes on a trailer. It actually mounts with your A-frame jack and even holds your bikes by the wheels so there is no frame contact.
