Will the 2500 hd 6 1/2 bed hitch work on my 1500 hd 6 1/2 bed?

Unfortunately, the frames of the 1/2 ton 1500 and 3/4 and 1 ton 2003 Sierra are different. Because of this, the Curt Class IV hitch you'd looked at, part # C14108 wouldn't work on a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500.
The good news is that we do offer a Class IV hitch with an capacity that's identical that is a fit. I'd recommend going with the Curt Class IV, part # C14332 which is a confirmed fit for your truck. The hitch has a 10000 lb towing/1000 lb tongue weight capacity or 12000 lb towing/1200 lb tongue weight capacity when used with weight distribution.
I've linked to an install video for the hitch I recommended.
