etrailer Hitch Rattling Against Exhaust on 2003 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello, I recently ordered an eTrailer Class III trailer hitch receiver for my 2003 honda pilot. I have mounted it, and there were no problems with that. However, my muffler now rattles against the hitch receiver on the right hand side. What is the best way to negate that problem? I looked over the FAQ on the etrailer website, and was still uncertain. Thank you for your purchase of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98851. The issue with an exhaust/muffler coming into contact with a hitch isn't a wholly unusual one, but you'll need to examine the underside where the hitch is mounted to locate the exact issue.

The # e98851 hitch does fit right next to the exhaust and my guess is it may be the exhaust heat shield that is coming into contact with the hitch. That happens sometimes, and what you can do is trim the part that is interfering if there is contact with the hitch, and that should stop the rattling.
