Can Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount D210 Be Used To Tow A Tow Dolly and Carry A Bike Rack?

Question:

I have a 2019 Forester motorhome I am planning to tow a Mini Cooper on a tow dolly behind it. The hitch on the Forester is rated at 7500lbs and 750lbs of tongue weight. Based on some calculations provided from the manufacturer of the dolly, at most my tongue weight from the dolly, with the Mini on it, shouldntfoot be any higher than 200lbs. I have 2 Ebikes weighing around 75lbs each. I am looking at an RV specific rack for Ebikes that weighs around 64lbs. That puts the total weight of the rack and bikes around 214lbs. Itll probably be a little lighter as I will take the batteries off. Is there any reason the Curt D210 wouldnt work for this. It seems I am staying in the eight rating of each part of the receiver as well as the total tongue weight of the hitch on the motorhome as well. Thanks

As long as the weight of your electric bike carrier, the electric bikes, and the tongue weight of your tow dolly does not exceed the 750lb tongue weight rating of your 2019 Forester Motorhome or the 750lb tongue weight rating of the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs # D210 you were looking at you will have no issues.

I do recommend double checking the tongue weight of your dolly with your Mini Cooper on it to confirm the exact tongue weight it will have to make sure you are not overloading the hitch or ball mount. You can use a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 to get an accurate tongue weight rating.

You will also want to make sure you use a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank like the 2" # 63845 or 2-5/16" # 63847 to match the coupler on your tow dolly.
