Comparing Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Pin Box 325-GH-8040 and GY66FR

Question:

my 5th wheel weighs 12600 dry and a pin weight of 2400 lbs. will the #325-gh-8040 18k be adequate or do i need to step up the the 25k pin box. since the fully loaded weight is 15500 lbs.

The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 and Lippert 1621 HD - 18,000 lbs # 325-GH-8040 you were looking at is rated for 18000lbs trailer weight and 3500lbs pin weight, so this will likely be the best option for you as long as your current pin box is a Lippert 1621 or 1621HD.

If your loaded trailer has a pin weight that exceeds the 3500lb maximum when loaded stepping up to the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1621/1621 HD - Auto Latch - 25K # GY66FR would be needed as it has a 5500lb pin weight rating.

Both of the pin boxes mentioned are designed to replace the Lippert 1621 or 1621HD so to confirm which pin box you have on your trailer you will want to check the pin box itself for a sticker that has the model on it.
