Question:
I recently purchased a truck that has bed racks installed. I called Yakima to try and get a key since it’s a secured unit and they told me to contact a dealer. Mentioned that a dealer would be able to assist with some type of master key to remove the lock case and acquire the key code. Does this ring true?

That is correct.
You will need to use the Replacement Control Key for Yakima Same Key System # Y8007835 to remove your current lock core, but the lock core will need to be unlocked for the control to be able to remove the core. If the lock core is locked you will need to have a locksmith unlock it for you first.
Once the core is removed you will see the key code stamped in the side of the lock core as shown in the included picture of the # Y8771-A137. For example if your lock core was stamped # A137 you would need Replacement Key # Y8772-A137.
If you can tell me the key code stamped on your lock I would be happy to recommend the correct replacement key.
