Question:
I just bought a 2017 Honda CR-V Touring. Which roof rack do you recommend? For what its worth, I do plan to go in drive-through car washes. Ive heard it can be important to remove the racks prior to that.

If your 2017 Honda CR-V has flush-mounted rails on the roof running front to back, then I recommend going with Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRVP46. This is a flush design which means the crossbars do not hang over the edge of the roof or crossbar legs and instead provide a clean factory appearance. It is an aerodynamic-style roof rack which allows for less noise and vibration, especially at highway speeds. These crossbars feature the common top channel/track which allows many accessories to be easily installed or removed. The weight capacity for this system is 165lbs.
If your CR-V has a bare roof with no existing rails, then I recommend looking into Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA137B-2. You will also need Legs # RRRLKVA and Fit Kit # DK284. This is an aerodynamic design but it is not a flush design and will have some of the crossbar hanging over the edge of the mounting legs/towers. It has the top channel/track for track-mounted accessories and has a weight capacity of 165lbs.
Both of the roof racks mentioned above are very nice systems, especially for the price. The flush design for a roof with factory rails is going to be an easier system to remove, but the roof rack for the bare roof can still be removed without too much effort. It is recommended to remove the roof rack when going through a car wash to reduce the risk of any damage or issues arising. I went ahead and attached a few demonstration videos that you can check out.
