Question:
Plan to hoist at 200 pound boat in shop about 10-12 feet up. Looking for winch brake or worm gear that would work best for this application. Prefer hand crank with drill option. The DL11001 seems to meet my needs. Which one do you suggest. Will be using wire cable on spool.

The Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Winch, # DL11001, will work great to hoist your 200 lb boat. The hex head allows you to use either the included handle or a heavy-duty 1/2 inch drill.
Worm gear winches are great for hoisting objects because they do not have a free wheel option and the load cannot reverse the direction of the winch.
Dutton-Lainson recommends using 9/32 inch diameter cable.
