How To Figure Out Which Trailer Ramp Spring Is Needed For A Trailer Ramp Door
Updated 03/18/2021 | Published 03/15/2021 >
Question:
TRC Trailer Ramp Springs I am looking at getting one of these. What is the best method to determine the weight of my door? If I get a set with capacity above the door weight does it make it so the door wont fall open on its own? What if I am below the weight on capacity, will it provide assistance and make the door easier to lift but just not as easy as it could be? Thanks!

The main thing you need to look at first is the dimensions of your door; this will tell you which spring to get. If there is just one option for that size, then go with that spring. If there are multiple options for that specific size door then you will need to estimate the weight of the door. Since it is not easy to remove the door and weigh it, I think the easiest way to weigh your door would be to put a scale under the edge of the door when it is lowered down and select your door based on this weight.
I have attached a link to all of the TRC trailer ramp springs available for you to check out and match one up. If you would like more assistance then feel free to send me the dimensions and weight when you get that information and I will be happy to further assist you.
