I reached out to my contact at Malone and the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer - 58" Crossbars - 400 lbs # MAL53FR uses 18 gauge wiring.
I recommend picking up the Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05743-10 to use for connection the wiring functions on the trailer as this will give you a weather tight connection compared to the included quick splices.
