Question:
Hi! I am exploring my options to equip my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL with a trailer brake controller. My Wrangler is equipped with the factory tow package. You seem to offer several, compatible trailer brake controllers and I am primarily interested in the Redarc Trailer Brake Controller with Adapter, code RED44FR-3073-P. Would you please confirm this is a plug and play no splicing controller using the suggested Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter. Are there any other trailer brake controllers you would suggest for this application? Please advise. Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR is a fantastic trailer brake controller and is what I recommend for your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited due to it only having the control knob visible which is great to not take up any knee room in your Jeep, and keeps the interior looking unchanged unlike other controllers.
Since your Jeep has the factory tow package you will be able to use the Plug-in adapter # 3073-P you mentioned, but you will also need the Redarc Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter for Tekonsha Brake Controller Harness # 331-TPH-017.
This will allow you to install the # RED44FR without needing to splice any wiring.
I included a video of these products being installed in a similar 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for you to take a look at.
