Question:
I am looking for a light platform hitch bike rack for 2 bikes. I was interested in the Kuat transfer v2 or Rock Mounts monorail but I wonder if they do not sit to close to the bumper when folded. What do you think. any recommendation? Light rack because I have a bad back.

The Kuat Transfer V2 part # KU74FR has a distance of 9 inches from the center of it's hitch pin to the nearest portion of the rack when folded up so as long as you have 9 inches or less from the hitch pin hole to the furthest point out on the rear bumper you'd be set.
The RockyMounts MonoRail part # RKY10003 has a distance of 5-3/4 inches for that measurement instead so it doesn't have quite as much clearance.
The Transfer weighs 47 lbs but has more clearance whereas the MonoRail weighs 37 lbs but has less clearance. Both are really great bike racks so if it were me I would go with the lightest option that can fold up.
