on the Camco RV Fresh Water System Backflow Preventer - 1/2 Diameter - Brass Item # CAM23303, is the direction of water flow from the female to the male threaded connection?

Actually, the back flow preventer of the # CAM23303 that you referenced allows the water to flow from the male side to the female side but not in reverse.
