To order replacement hardware for your Curt # C12490 hitch, or any hitch for that matter, simply order # RHK and on that page Enter C12490 for the hitch item number, and select Curt from the manufacturer drop down list. This kit will supply all the hardware originally sold with the kit.
I have attached a link to the hitch product page, and a link to an install demonstration on your Scion. This Curt hitch is one of the easiest to install hitches that we have.
At the 0:59 mark in the video it suggests a nylon brush to clean the grime out of the weld-nuts. I find that a little lube spray and a Deka # DW00254 battery post cleaner does a much better job. You will need to borrow a torque wrench to properly tighten the bolts in place. If you don't already have one - try a neighbor as this is a rarely needed tool. Otherwise you can add the PowerTools # PTW3001C wrench to your cart.
Now that you have a rear hitch installed you have new options. You can install a bike rack like the Thule # TH9058 “Camber” 2-bike rack or the Swagman # S63380 “Trailhead” 4-bike rack. Each rack has the “Tilt” feature to allow access to the rear of the vehicle, and an anti-rattle hitch pin for a quiet ride.
You could also add a small cargo carrier like the Curt # C18145 which will help you free up interior space when it it time for a road trip. This carrier just plugs into your hitch receiver, and can be used on your other vehicles with a hitch as well.
