In order to add a roof rack to your 2016 Ford Explorer I recommend using the Thule Roof Rack Kit using parts # TH711400, # TH460R, # THKIT3151. This roof rack gives you a high quality Thule rack with aerodynamic crossbars that will limit wind noise and will allow you to use the Thule Pulse Roof Cargo Box # TH615 you were looking at.
Since the roof rack towers don't come with locks included I recommend adding the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 4 # TH450400, which allows you to secure the roof rack to your Explorer. This is a pack of 4 lock cores, one for each tower, so everything is secure.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out.
