Updated 01/26/2021 | Published 01/22/2021

Question:

I'm interested in installing electric brakes on my Aluma trailer model# A18816ATV. The trailer is 16ft long and has a GVWR 0f 2990 with 2-2200# rubber torsion axles. Wheels are 13 inches. What set would you recommend for this trailer. Thank you.

Since you have two 2,200 lb trailer brakes you should get two of the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kits # K23-103-104-00. These are good for 10", 12" and 13" wheels. This kit requires a mounting flange bolt pattern of 4" x 4" and are 7 x 1-1/4 drum brakes. A 4" x 4" E-Z Lube Axle # 8-173-16UC3-EZ or standard axle hub # 8-173-16UC3 will work but make sure that your hubs use the # L44649 inner and outer bearing to make sure these hubs are correct for your Aluma Trailer. All the hardware is included for this kit besides the brake controller. You can use the Curt Echo # C51180 which is the easiest brake controller to use.
