Question:
Will the bumber and mud guards have to be removed when I remove the base plate from the CRV? How much time would you estimate to remove?

According to the installation instructions for the Roadmaster # RM-521559-4, the front clip or bumper cover is removed to access the hardware holding the base plates in place. The radiator cover also needs to be removed.
Keep in mind that during the original installation, the bumper core was removed and was NOT REPLACED. The base plate crossbeam takes the place of a majority of the bumper structure. If you are removing the base plates, the bumper core or a replacement (if you no longer have it) will need to be installed to provide adequate protection in the event of a frontal collision.
Roadmaster estimates that the installation would take an experienced installer about 3 hours to complete. The amount of time to remove the base plates would take less time due to the fact that no drilling or trimming of the bumper cover will be needed.
