Question:
Hi, I am a backcountry skier in Montana. Long forest roads that sometimes are scary icy and sometimes deep/deep snow. I want to get a set for my VW Touareg, 2012. Ideally the best/easiest to install set for these conditions. Thanks!

Deep snow and ice can definitely be scary so I can understand wanting to go with the best and easiest to install chains on your 2012 VW Touareg. And the best, easiest to install snow tire chains for your VW are the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains.
There a few reasons why these are the best chains, starting with the install, which is important because the less time you have to spend out in the snow and on the side of the road, the better. To install the Konig chains, you just drape them around your tires and loop the cables together; you only need to drive off and they will actually tighten around your tires and self-center.
The other aspect which makes these the best chains are the diamond-pattern D-links which give your VW the best traction on both snow and ice. The links are made from manganese nickel alloy steel so they are highly durable and resist corrosion, which means they are going to last. In regards to the right fit, that depends on the tire size of your Touareg, as there are a number of sizes available, so you will want to verify what your size is, and then you can get the right chain.
