Looking for a 2inch truck hitch for a 2006 Dodge Dakota 4WD

Helpful Expert Reply:
To add a 2" hitch receiver to your 2006 Dodge Dakota I recommend using the Curt # 13230 because of the durability of Curt hitches when it comes to the powder coating; this ultimately helps protect the hitch from dings and scratches that might lead to corrosion that can otherwise reduce the life of the hitch. This hitch is a Class III hitch that is a custom fit for your Dakota, so no drilling will be required during installation.
There are some other parts you may not have to get a complete towing setup, like wiring, a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip. For need wiring to tow a basic trailer with no more than 1 tail light on each side of the trailer, you can use the Tekonsha # 118323, which is a plug and play installation that provides you with a 4 way connector for trailer lighting. If your trailer has more lights than that you will need a Modulite converter that is only available for this vehicle from the dealer.
For a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip to complete your towing package, the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop - 7,500 lbs # 989892 is a good choice since it gives you a ball mount with a 4" drop, multiple hitch balls (1-7/8" and 2"), hitch pin, clip and storage bag. It's a great option that gives you a few different setups to tow a variety of trailers.
