The Blue Ox weight distribution systems have come a long way over the years so the current systems sold are improved but if you are wanting to never have this experience again I would recommend you go with a brand that has a better reputation in the weight distribution world like Equal-i-Zer like with the part # EQ37121ET which you can use with the shank you already have.
