Do the Frame Holes Need To Be Cleaned Before Installing Curt Hitch on a 2021 Honda Pilot

Question:

I watched one video prior to ordering the hitch and the technician used a lubricant and brush before ing screws into the frame so I had planned using grease on the screws prior to ing. I just watched a different video and the screws were ed without any mention of lubricant. Is there a preferred method?

In regards to installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13146 on a 2021 Honda Pilot, it will be a good idea to clean the factory weld nuts out on the bottom of the frame prior to inserting the hardware. This can be done with any general purpose aerosol lubricant and some sort of wire brush. That said, the weld nuts being dirty and not allowing the fasteners to thread is really only any issue on older vehicles.

I have attached an install video I did below as well but as this was a brand new vehicle, the holes did not need to be cleaned prior.
