Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for 2017 Hyundai Ioniq

Updated 10/29/2020 | Published 10/27/2020

Question:

Hello, I am looking to add the Draw-tite 17 Hyundai Ioniq Class I Trailer Hitch to my 2017 Hyundai Ioniq and also looking at buying the Yakima RidgeBack 4-Bike Hitch Rack. Are these two products compatible? I know that the trailer hitch is a 1 1/4 receiver and the bike rack is at 1.25 or 2in, but my thought is i can use the bike rack on the trailer hitch if i get an adapter? Very new to this realm and would appreciate help with these products to make sure i buy the correct items that will work together.

The Draw-Tite # 24963 Class-1 hitch you prefer will bolt onto a non-electric 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. However all Class-1 hitches are limited to racks for 2 bikes. The Yakima RidgeBack that you selected is a Class-2 rack and will not work with Class-1 hitches. There is not a Class-2 hitch available for your Ioniq. With this in mind you could use the Thule # TH934XTR Class-1-2-3 bike rack that will let you carry 2 bikes on your Ioniq, but also work with 4 bikes when attached to a vehicle with a Class-2 or better hitch.

If you really only want a 2-Bike Class-1 rack, there are two that would be a good choice. Check out the Thule # TH9058 Camber rack, or the Hollywood Racks # HR2500 Commuter rack.

I have attached links to these product pages and installation video for the hitch.
