Question:
I’ve been out of town for last month and haven’t been able to work in tailgate lock. I tried again today with NO luck. I hook into pink/ yellow and into pink/ red. These are colors coming off door switch that locks doors. When I touch them with grounded tester doors open and lock. After connecting pop a lock I get nothing. The door button also stopped working but soon as I disconnect wires buttons work again. Remote opener worked for doors while wires were connected. I checked with tester at tailgate I got nothing. There must be someone else who installed this on a 2003 f 150 who could give you guys directions to give me. Getting kinda tired of pulling interior and tailgate apart. I had a number to talk with someone but lost it. Can someone please call to help me out. Thank you.

To install the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8250, locate the power lock wires on your 2003 Ford F-150 on the driver-side kick panel. I contacted Pop & Lock and they confirmed that for your 2003 Ford, you should be able to find the wires colored red with green stripe and pink/red with orange stripe. You can use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to determine which wires lock and unlock the doors or a multimeter such as # PT89ZR to tell you how much power is actually getting to your tailgate lock. Also, double-check your wiring for any signs of damage or loose connections.
If you still experiencing issues, then I recommend using the Switch Kit for Pop & Lock Power Tailgate Lock # PAL9520. This wires directly to the wiring harness included with the tailgate lock and allows you to bypass your vehicle lock wiring completely.
